For Charlyn 2007 has finished with many dreams fulfilled along with more goals planned for the future. In January we traveled to Southern California for the Orange Empire DF Working Group Show. We were taking a class dog, Armani but our special Josie blew her coat so we considered not going with just one dog. Looking out in the back there was only one dog in coat and she was 10 years old. Looking at the premium we saw a veteran competition and decided to try our luck in the Siberian Veteran class.

Cassie had not shown in a couple of years and in fact was on the 1 time a year bath during the summer months. After hanging up with Kristen I entered her online, as entries closed at noon that day. Then I went out and bathed her. She looked as good as ever and I thought, ok she might have a chance in the Veteran class.

Well the rest is history. Cassie went to the show and was awarded breed all three days. She also was awarded Group 2  in the Veteran Bitch Competition, moving right into the regular group ring she pulled off a group 2 there as well. To say we were stunned is an understatement! The next two days the Siberian ring had handlers galore around it watching to see who immerged from breed, word had traveled fast about the 10 year old Siberian bitch! Cassie made the cut the next two days against some spectacular dogs. But most rewarding was the Judges, competitors and handlers alike that flocked and commented on the outstanding condition and presence of Cassie.

Just four months later Cassie reached the pinnacle being awarded an all-breed BIS up in Oregon. Cassie currently is the oldest Siberian Husky in history to be awarded an all-breed Best in Show and is also the only Siberian Husky to go BIS AND be an SHCA titled Sled Dog.

Cassie retired once again following the 2007 SHCA National Specialty in Rohnert Park, California. She finished with winning the 9-11 veteran sweeps class, 2nd in the brood bitch class and 2nd in the Generations Gala. Truly remarkable accomplishments at 2 months shy of 11.
